European Energy constructs large wind project in Sweden

GE Renewable Energy chosen as turbine supplier for the 53.2 MW Zinkgruvan project
European Energy have begun construction of the Zinkgruvan wind project that will have a capacity of 53.2 MW when completed. The project is located approximately 70 km north of Linköping, near the northern end of the Vättern lake.
Knud Erik Andersen, CEO of European Energy said:
“Zinkgruvan is our second project in Sweden, where we have a significant pipeline of projects and for the first time we have chosen GE Renewable Energy as turbine supplier. We are excited about building a project of this size and we are also looking forward to working with GE Renewable Energy. The GE 3 MW-platform is an attractive option, both technically and commercially.”
Zinkgruvan is the second construction project in Sweden for European Energy, as it follows the smaller Västanby project (10 MW in total capacity). The Västanby project near Lund is expected to be completed early next year.
“The Zinkgruvan project will give us experience and knowledge that we can utilize in future projects in Sweden and other markets. Sweden and Finland are increasingly becoming important markets to us and we look forward to stepping up our efforts in those markets,” said Knud Erik Andersen
The project will consist of 14 turbines with a capacity of 3.8 MW and a rotor size of 137 meters and a hub height of 110 meters.

The Zinkgruvan project is expected to be completed in 2019.
