Q&As with Maja

Who are you?
Maja Demirci, I’m 28 years old and from Poland. I work as Planning Manager in European Energy and was hired in January 2020.

How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as a driven and energetic individual, always up for the next challenge. I am passionate about my work, because I love what I do, I have a steady source of motivation that drives me to do my best. I love learning new things and am always on the lookout for new opportunities to develop and grow within my role, whether that’s learning new skills, taking on a new project or collaborating with other departments.

What do you do at European Energy?
I’m part of the EPC department, more specifically the Project Execution Team. I create project plans staring from screening phase up to the construction. I work with solar and wind parks all around Europe and it’s very exciting because all the projects are very unique.

How do you try to be a creative enabler of the green transition?
The gold key for me is minimalism. It doesn’t mean living without anything. It means making sure that everything I own and use is put to its maximum purpose and that I cut out anything unnecessary.

What are the best things about working at European Energy?
Optimism, energy, and enthusiasm makes everything happen. The impact of a positive approach is severely underrated. We have a lot of passion and optimism. Projects are bound to succeed.

Why is it important for you that European Energy is a driving force in the green transition?
We have a strong leadership and a practical roadmap to ensure people can see themselves in this transition and that they can build their skills and grow over time. People remain our greatest asset to emerge on the right side of climate change history.

What are the best things about your colleagues?
I absolutely adore my team and the respect that we all have for one another. It is fun coming to work with happy people who love where they work, and I see smiles everywhere I turn. Having a well-put-together team starts from the top and I’m so fortunate to have such an amazing leadership.

European Energy has six core values. In it together, Excitement, Inclusion, Agility, Trust & Courage, and Ambition. What are the most important values for you and why?
Trust is a critical part of all interactions that we have as humans. It also plays an integral role in communicating in the workplace. European Energy has built a high level of trust which creates a more positive employee experience. It also leads to a more productive workplace where people feel safe and respected.

What has been your best experience so far at European Energy?
My overall experience with the company through the last 3 years has been great. It’s a great work environment, where people are young, open-minded and have many opportunities to grow and learn new things in their field of work. People genuinely enjoy being there. Every company is a work in progress, but European Energy really does strive to do better in any way they can.

What do you like to do outside work?
Game nights, outdoor concerts, wine & jazz festivals, brunches & dinners, all-inclusive holidays.
