European Energy grid connects 70 MW green energy in Denmark

Eight solar farms, totalling 70 MW, have been grid connected by European Energy in past weeks – the final solar farm was energized today.

Throughout the past weeks, European Energy has grid connected eight solar farms with a total capacity of 70 MW. The solar farms are located at Lolland, Falster, Læsø, Bornholm, near Holbæk and near Hjørring.

“It has been a pleasure to experience the focus our team has shown in grid connecting the farms. All the farms are now grid connected and will deliver green electricity to more than 24.000 Danish households,“ said Knud Erik Andersen, CEO at European Energy.

Bodilsker Solar Farm at Bornholm will officially be inaugurated by the Danish Minister for Energy, Utilities and Climate, Lars Chr. Lilleholt, in connection with the political festival “Folkemødet in June. Bodilsker Solar Farm and the other seven solar farms serve as an example of solar farms naturally belonging in the Danish energy mix.

“The technology used in solar farms has progressed remarkably over the past couple of years, and is now considerably cheaper in Denmark than electricity generated with coal, oil and biomass. Solar and wind farms are clean energy production without any CO2 emissions. Today solar and wind delivers the cheapest energy,“ said Knud Erik Andersen.
