European Energy wins projects in German auction

May 18, 2018

Two German wind projects owned by European Energy were awarded subsidies from the German state in an auction on 17 May 2018.

European Energy’s two German wind projects were awarded subsidies in an auction on Thursday. The projects total 28.2 MW in capacity and are located in Sachsen-Anhalt and Brandenburg.

”This is great news for European Energy, but also for the German electricity consumers. Now they will get more affordable green energy,” said Knud Erik Andersen, CEO at European Energy.

Windpark Vier Berge in Sachsen-Anhalt is a repowering-project with a capacity of 26.1 MW, where seven new Enercon turbines will replace five older turbines. Construction is expected to start in 2019 and will be completed in 2020.

The second project, Jetschen, is a new project with a single Senvion turbine. Construction will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in fourth quarter 2018.

”Since we started European Energy in 2004, Germany has been a core market to us and it will continue to be. We are part of the green transition in Germany and will remain part of the market, and  therefore we will continue to develop more German projects, and we look forward to participating in future auctions.”
