European Energy opens office in Texas
Mar 15, 2023
European Energy has officially opened its new office in Austin, Texas.
The opening was made official during a celebration at the Texas State Department last week. Amongst the participants were the Danish Minister for Business Morten Bødskov, Chair of the Danish Business Committee Hans Andersen and Texas Secretary of State Jane Nelson.
– Austin is a perfect place from where to expand our renewable energy and Power-to-X activities in the Texan and US markets. We are very pleased with the warm welcome from the Texan State Department and strong support from Denmark in our endeavours to bring our Danish experience and know-how into the US, stated Head of EE North America Lorena Ciciriello.
Jane Nelson presented European Energy with an armadillo in the state colors. The armadillo is the Texan state animal and a symbol of the deep respect and need for the land, the ability to change and adapt, and a fierce undying love for freedom.
– Texas is the home for innovation in the US. We are happy to welcome more Danish businesses to explore the economic opportunities that our state offers. Together we have committed each other to exchange ideas, get to know each other and find out how we can cooperate with the Danish government and business leaders to strengthen the diplomatic and commercial ties between Texas and Denmark, said Jane Nelson.
Development in Texas
European Energy has more than 1 GW of solar capacity under development in Texas. The company is also exploring investments in green hydrogen and e-methanol in the state. This is in addition to 2 GW of so projects in the Western United States.
Last year, European Energy announced its intention to produce green methanol to supply the Danish shipping company Maersk Shipping’s new methanol fueled transport ships from American produced sources by 2025/2026, and at the same time the company has the ambition to develop 10 GW of renewable energy projects in the US by 2026.
