European Energy signs PPA with Faerch in UK
Jun 14, 2023
European Energy has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Faerch Group, a leading manufacturer of circular food plastic with three production facilities in the United Kingdom. The agreement solidifies a partnership that will further bolster the renewable energy transition.
Under the terms of the PPA, Faerch will purchase 100% of the electricity generated by European Energy’s Bubney solar farm, located in the county of Shropshire, 80 km south of Liverpool.
Bubney solar farm has a capacity of 40 MW and will be able to produce approximately 40 GWh of renewable energy per year. With this PPA, which has a 10 year term, and is scheduled to commence in 2025, Faerch Group will have access to a consistent and renewable power supply, reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future.
European Energy is delighted to partner with Faerch, a company that shares its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. This collaboration serves as an example of the growing demand for renewable energy and the positive impact it can have on the environment.
– We are thrilled to announce this Power Purchase Agreement with Faerch, which marks another significant milestone in our UK operations, says Gregor McDonald, Head of Energy Trading and PPA’s at European Energy.
– By joining forces with forward-thinking companies like Faerch Group, we can further our mission of decarbonizing the energy sector and creating a more sustainable future for all.
– Having corporate PPA’s creates a stable and predictable source of renewable energy and protects us financially against fluctuating energy prices. Having a partnership with European Energy on the offtake of renewable energy from Bubney also brings us a step closer to our goal of 100 % renewable energy through PPAs and other initiatives such as energy efficiency projects and the installation of on-site solar panels on the majority of our operations, says Tom Sand-Kristensen, Group CFO at Faerch Group.
