European Energy to start operations at Holsted Solar Park

Dec 20, 2024

175 MW Solar Park powers 45,000 households and boosts Denmark’s green transition

Copenhagen, Denmark, 20th of December 2024 – European Energy has commenced operations at Holsted Solar Park. The park has an approved capacity of 175 MW and can produce electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 45,000 European households.

Holsted Solar Park is one of only three solar parks in Denmark directly connected to the country’s high-voltage grid. This is due to the size and capacity of the solar park, which require advanced technical installations to ensure a stable and efficient supply of electricity to the grid. The implementation of these installations was completed during 2024 in close collaboration with Energinet, which is responsible for the stability of the Danish electricity grid.

“We have had a constructive and productive collaboration with Energinet, who guided us on the formal requirements and specifications needed to connect a solar park of this size to the high-voltage grid. We are proud to have met these requirements and delighted that we can now bring one of Denmark’s largest solar parks into operation,” says Poul Jacobsen, EVP and head of the EPC department at European Energy.

Energinet also expressed satisfaction with the collaboration and highlighted the project’s significance for Denmark’s green transition.

“To achieve Denmark’s climate goals, it is absolutely crucial that we connect large amounts of renewable energy production to our grid, and Holsted Solar Park is a significant contribution to this effort. Therefore, we are pleased to see yet another facility connected after a constructive collaboration process,” says Jeanette Bodi Sørensen, department head at Energinet.
