European Energy enters operations agreement with Heartland for solar park near Holstebro
Nov 18, 2025
European Energy will take over the operations of Heartland’s solar park, Gedmose, near Holstebro. The agreement strengthens European Energy’s portfolio of operational activities within renewable energy.
– European Energy will operate Heartland’s 207 MW solar park near Holstebro, one of the largest in Northern Europe.
– The park produces electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 50,000 households and is backed by a PPA with BESTSELLER.
– The agreement strengthens European Energy’s operations portfolio, which currently covers 4GW of renewable capacity.
– European Energy plans to expand its O&M services, including solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS), both in Denmark and internationally, as part of its full-value-chain renewable energy strategy.
Copenhagen, Denmark, 18th of November, 2025 – European Energy will from the 1st of January 2026 be responsible for operating solar park Gedmose, owned by Heartland A/S. The solar park, which was connected to the grid in 2021, was, at the time, the largest in Northern Europe, with a capacity of 207 MW. Located just outside Holstebro, it produces enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of more than 50,000 households. This is the first time European Energy has taken on the operation of a solar park that the company has not developed itself and is not the owner of.
With this agreement, European Energy expands its portfolio of operational services within renewable energy. Today, the company manages the operations and asset management of 4 GW of renewable energy capacity.
“A key part of our strategic shift in asset management has been to offer our services to third-party owners – not only to the parks we develop ourselves. In recent years, we have also developed new technological solutions that enable us to optimise electricity production at a lower cost. Our ambition is for asset management to become a significant revenue driver for the company, and this agreement marks an important step forward in that direction,” says Jacob Saust Johansen, EVP for Asset Management & Operations at European Energy.
“We therefore look forward to taking over the operations of Gedmose solar park and providing the owners with a stable and efficient partner.”
Gedmose solar park is owned by Heartland A/S. The park’s electricity production is covered by a power purchase agreement with BESTSELLER, Normal, Nemlig.com and Faerch.
“Gedmose solar park was established as part of our ambition to invest responsibly and with a long-term perspective in the green transition,” says Kasper Reggelsen, Head of Communications at HEARTLAND.
“We established the solar park as part of our ambition to make long-term investments in renewable energy and the green transition. In recent years, we have been reminded of the importance of a robust energy infrastructure that benefits everyone. We are pleased to gain a skilled partner to handle the day-to-day operations and ensure that the park continues to contribute efficiently to Denmark’s energy supply.”
In recent years, European Energy has made targeted investments to strengthen its expertise in the asset management and operation of renewable energy assets. The company has developed specialised technical and digital competencies focused on advanced data tools and real-time analysis, enabling the identification of opportunities for improvement and the reduction of downtime.
European Energy will further expand its asset management and operations activities in the coming years — both in Denmark and internationally — as part of its ambition to offer a comprehensive service portfolio covering the entire renewable energy value chain.
