European Energy selects Capalo AI for optimisation of two Baltic hybrid projects

Anyksciai solar and battery park in Lithuania

Partnership will provide optimisation and trading services for two European Energy hybrid projects in Lithuania and Latvia, combining more than 140 MWp of solar capacity with 71 MW / 170 MWh of battery storage.

Copenhagen, Denmark, 26th of August, 2026 – European Energy has entered into a partnership with Capalo AI to optimise and trade on two hybrid solar-and-battery energy storage projects in Lithuania and Latvia.

The partnership covers European Energy’s Anykščiai hybrid park in Lithuania and Saldus Hybrid Park in Latvia and forms part of European Energy’s continued expansion of battery storage and hybrid renewable energy projects across the Baltic region.

At Anykščiai, a 25 MW / 65 MWh battery energy storage system is co-located with an existing 78 MWp solar park. The hybrid facility entered operations in June 2026, with Capalo AI providing optimisation and trading services for the asset.

The Saldus Hybrid Park in Latvia combines a 46 MW / 105 MWh battery with a 65.7 MWp solar park. The battery is co-located with a solar facility, enabling electricity generation and storage to be managed together and allowing the project to respond more flexibly to changing conditions in the electricity system.

Combining solar generation with battery storage allows renewable energy assets to respond more effectively to electricity market conditions and grid needs. Electricity can be stored when appropriate and supplied to the grid when it is most needed, with hybrids able to balance themselves more effectively behind the meter and participate in ancillary services that help the system operator keep the lights on.
