Meet Georgios Tsiakas

Meet our Grid Integration Analyst, Georgios Tsiakas

“It is hard to define what is best about working at European Energy, but if I had to choose one, it would be the high-quality coffee machine. Without it, I couldn’t go through the day at all.”
Georgios Tsiakas, Grid Integration Analyst, European Energy

Q&As with Georgios

Who are you?
My name is Georgios Tsiakas, but people are calling me Giorgos. I am from Greece, and I have lived Helsingborg, Sweden for the past six months.

How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as shy and introverted at first glance, but when I start knowing the person I turn in to and extroverted and goofy guy.

What do you do at European Energy?
I am part of the Grid Integration Team, EPC.

How do you try to be a creative enabler of the green transition?
Since I was in school, I have had a motto that was stuck in my head. The motto says, “Be the change you want to see in the world”, from Mahatma Gandhi. I was so obsessed with that motto that I also have a tattoo of it. So, in order to fulfill my motto, I needed to find a job that not only would make me happy to do and interested me, but a job in which I can change the world even at the slightest. That is why I chose to be part of European Energy; I think the company’s vision fits so perfectly with my vision. And the green transition is the change that the world is waiting for.

What are the best things about working at European Energy?
It is hard to define what is best about working at European Energy, but if I had to choose one, it would be the high-quality coffee machine. Without it, I couldn’t go through the day at all.

Why is it important for you that European Energy is a driving force in the green transition?
We have reached a point where changes need to be made. Changes in order to make our future and the future of our kids better. In all the media, everyone is hearing about climate change and the rising of the temperature. I am glad that I am part of a company that not only understands the situation that we are in, but also tries its best to make the future for everyone a little bit brighter. That is why it’s important for me that I am a part of driving the green transition.

What are the best things about your colleagues?
The best thing is that we are more than colleagues. It feels like we are friends, and the working hours pass by so fast and fun. We are able to determine when it is time to work seriously and focus on our target, and when to have fun.

European Energy has six core values. In it together, Excitement, Inclusion, Agility, Trust & Courage, and Ambition. What are the most important values for you and why?
I think that the most important values for me are the ones that describe me as well. I would combine “Trust & Courage” and “In it together”, because it is nice to be in a company where you know that everyone has your back and that you have people to trust. You are not alone on this journey.

What has been your best experience so far at European Energy?
From a career perspective, every day in European Energy is a new experience. Every day I learn something that I didn’t know the day before. But talking about fun, I think that anyone in the company will agree that the company trip is a unique experience.

What do you like to do outside work?
What I like to do outside of work really depends on the mood. When I want to be more chilling and cozy, I like to stay at home and play video games or watch TV shows, or go to the cinema. But other times when I want to be more energetic, I like to exercise at the gym or practicing boxing. I really like to travel, so every year I am trying to visit a place that I haven’t visited before, so I will be able to meet new cultures and new traditions.
