Q&As with Lise
Who are you?
I am Lise Hjorth Larsen. I was born in Denmark in a small town far out in the country. I have worked in various companies as an accountant, and my last job was at an NGO called Dignity.
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as structured, careful, and committed to my work. As I am a bookkeeper, I need to be that. But I am also a mom to two teen kids, which also requires a lot of structure and love.
What do you do at European Energy?
I work as an Accountant in the Finance department in Accounting. I primarily work with the mother company European Energy A/S together with two colleagues. We make sure that the invoices are made out to the correct companies and make payments to our suppliers. We also reconcile with banks and prepare the books for the quarter.
How do you try to be a creative enabler of the green transition?
At home I had talks with my two children aged 12 and 15 about how to live a “greener” life. Me and my children try to life as green as possible. We buy green power, and we sort our waste. When we buy food, we try to buy locally grown vegetables. We ride our bikes, and my son has a dream of owning an electric car when he grows up.
What are the best things about working at European Energy?
The best thing about working at European Energy is that it is a very inclusive company. We are many different nationalities, and we are both young and not so young. There is room for all dedicated people. And the company offers so many good things for their employees – many kinds of sports activities and a nice lunch. Annually, we have a very nice company trip and both a summer and a winter party. There are lots of opportunity to really meet your colleagues.
Why is it important for you that European Energy is a driving force in the green transition?
We all need to make a greener choice in our everyday lives. And working for European Energy makes me proud and makes me feel like I am contributing and that I am a part of something bigger.
What are the best things about your colleagues?
I work in Accounting, and most of the time we are very quiet, but occasionally someone tells a joke and we are all laughing. We have a very good team where we are helping each other across desks and functions, and no matter how busy we are there is always time to help a colleague.
European Energy has six core values. In it together, Excitement, Inclusion, Agility, Trust & Courage, and Ambition. What are the most important values for you and why?
For me it is “In it together” and “Inclusion” that are the most important two. The first one because together we can make it. In my department we are over 20 people, and we have a lot of tasks where we need others in the department to cooperate. approve in the banks And the second one because there is room for all – as long as you are dedicated. For example, in my department we are both men and women, young and not so young, and we are over seven different nationalities.
What has been your best experience so far at European Energy?
Meeting the great team in Accounting because they made me feel so welcome. And second was the Company Trip to Helsingborg in Sweden. The trip to Sweden was fun and so nice to meet colleagues from other countries, and very nice to spend time with my team outside the office.
What do you like to do outside work?
In my spare time, I like to do volunteer work – I am active in two associations. I am in “Natteravnene”, which is a unit where we walk around the streets in the evening and at night and make it safer for young people. We have our pockets filled with candy and condoms that we give to the young people. The other unit is “Kræftens Bekæmpelse Herlev Lokalforeninnig”, which is the local foundation for research and prevention of cancer in the town of Herlev. We make public talks and try to raise money to people with cancer.
