Q&As with Midas
Who are you?
I’m Midas, an Electrical Engineer who is originally from the Netherlands. In 2021, I moved to Denmark to take on new adventures after working as an Asset Manager at a Distribution System Operator (local grid operator).
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a fun, tall, Dutch guy. I like to think of myself as a team player who likes to collaborate with others.
What do you do at European Energy?
I work in the Asset Management Department as a Technical Asset Manager. I’m responsible for all technical aspects of our wind portfolio in Denmark and the Netherlands. In my day-to-day job, I’m mainly managing, monitoring, and reporting on the status of our operational assets. My goal is to make sure the turbines keep producing as much green electricity as possible!
How do you try to be a creative enabler of the green transition?
Contributing to the green transition is very meaningful and there is still a long way to go in the future to make the Paris agreement successful. My contribution to this collective mission is to ensure that at European Energy we’re generating as much green electricity with the portfolio as possible. Every green produced kWh is replacing a kWh produced by conventional energy production units like coal and gas.
What are the best things about working at European Energy?
Pioneering a new way forward in the way energy is generated. European Energy is becoming a global leader in the green transition and executing projects that have never been done before. Being a part of this innovation and defining the future is something that makes me super proud and excited.
Why is it important for you that European Energy is a driving force in the green transition?
The urgency to create a more sustainable and environmentally friendly economy has never been higher. Addressing climate change, preserving the beautiful natural resources/creatures and securing the health and well-being of everyone around the world is essential for ourselves and future generations. Every effort supporting this transition will bring us a little bit closer to our ultimate goal.
What are the best things about your colleagues?
Spending time together with them during and outside work. It is a pure joy to continuously exchange experiences, ideas, knowledge, skills and most importantly jokes. I feel supported by my colleagues and love to be a part of this amazing work environment.
European Energy has six core values. In it together, Excitement, Inclusion, Agility, Trust & Courage, and Ambition. What are the most important values for you and why?
I would pick Inclusion. Everyone likes to be part of something, and I believe that inclusion is the driving force behind all of our other values. Inclusion is like a love letter, it says “I want you to be here”.
What has been your best experience so far at European Energy?
Working alongside my colleagues defining what the future of green energy production should look like.
What do you like to do outside work?
I love to bike (true Dutch style). It is the perfect moment to completely clear my mind, no distractions and enjoy all of the amazing nature around Copenhagen. Besides biking I also love being creative with my camera taking photos and videos. Working together with people or companies and visualizing their ideas and stories into reality is very rewarding. It provides the perfect balance between my technical day-to-day job and creative passion.
