Q&As with Vanessa
Who are you?
Vanessa Hogan Iversen, I’m 27 YO from Australia
How would you describe yourself?
Outgoing and energetic with a good sense of humor.
What do you do at European Energy?
I work in the project department, specifically in the Market Development team, where we investigate new markets for development for our company.
How do you try to be a creative enabler of the green transition?
When our team is looking at new opportunities, it is not always clear how our company can best contribute to that new project or market, whether from a commercial, technical, or other standpoint. Many times, we need to think outside the box and collaborate with others in our industry to find the best path forward for our projects. This requires being creative and coming with a fresh perspective to facilitate bringing our green generation projects to life.
What are the best things about working at European Energy?
The people! I am so grateful for the team spirit in our company, and really enjoy speaking to many of my colleagues who come from all over the world.
Why is it important for you that European Energy is a driving force in the green transition?
One of the most thought-provoking slogans I have read about our climate change challenges is: ‘there is no Planet B’. A simple but very powerful statement that gives me the motivation to work at European Energy – where my colleagues and I spend our days actively implementing the solutions to climate change. We are taking action to ensure that Planet A is all we need.
What are the best things about your colleagues?
That no matter what your position or title in the company may say, we are all encouraged to contribute our insights when solving the tasks at hand, rather than just listening to those more senior. This creates and environment where each colleague feels appreciated and empowered, and you have a sense that your personal contribution is making a difference.
European Energy has six core values. In it together, Excitement, Inclusion, Agility, Trust & Courage, and Ambition. What are the most important values for you and why?
The most important values for me are ‘In it Together’ and ‘Trust and Courage’ because I think these two values perfectly sum up the working environment at European Energy, which is one of my favorite reasons for working for the company. There is a great sense of teamwork in everything that we do, and we are able to work together as a team so effectively because of the trust that our colleagues have in our ideas and abilities.
What has been your best experience so far at European Energy?
My best experiences so far have all related to my involvement in helping to establish our country teams and offices outside of Denmark. Connecting with new colleagues based in different parts of the world has given me new insights into the different challenges we face in all the markets in which we operate, and the learnings you can take from one market can often be applied to another, which collectively helps us in solving what is a world-wide issue, namely climate change.
What do you like to do outside work?
I like to travel, enjoy the outdoors and to explore the city where I live. I’m also a big foodie, so love eating out when I have the chance!
